Design, Cut and Make a Fashion Collection
This programme is aimed at those who have trained with us or who have design, garment making and pattern cutting skills and want to design and produce their own fashion collection. We are currently planning a 3-4 month part time course to enable you to do this with the tuition and assistant of our tutors and technicians using our studio, machines and equipment. It will enable you to refine your business plan, develop your product, research your target customer, identify your competition, and design and produce a sample capsule fashion collection.
You will start with planning the business and developing and refining your product, identifying your target customer, the level of the market and your competition. You will source fabric and trimmings and processors. With the support and guidance of our expert tutors you will, create the technical drawings and then cut the patterns and make the toiles. After fitting and then adapting the patterns you will cut and sew and finish the sample garments.
The course will also cover range planning, costing, pricing your products. To do this effectively we will be sourcing manufacturers and production. You will learn about branding, marketing and how to approach buyers to gain sales You will be supported throughout the entire process from a range of expert tutors. At the end of the programme you should have a fully finished capsule collection ready to take to market.
We can arrange photoshoots, models and promotional materials to help you market your brand and there is a possibility to end the course with a group exhibition to showcase your collection.
You will learn by doing, and by completing the course, you will have covered the entire process from design idea through to production and onto sales. You can use the skills gained as a practice run to produce a fashion range or you can use the collection to start your business and reach your customer. With this knowledge, you can either further develop the range in your own time or you will have the skills and contacts to repeat the process for further seasonal collections.
To join this course, you should already have a viable idea for product, started to put together a business plan and have intermediate level sewing and pattern cutting skills. You will need to additional work outside the class time.
Admission to the course will be by interview.
This unique and exciting course is in the planning stage and we hope to have full details shortly.
