Intermediate Make a Lined Dress
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Our fitted lined dress course is a great follow on from a simple garment courses such as the Make a Simple Dress and Make a Simple Shirt. It’s a dress with a bodice and skirt lining so if you have never attached a lining it will show you how.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Learn how to make a fitted dress, with full lining and princess line seams. This is a stylish dress, which can be made with a full or straight skirt, and a high or low neck.
The course includes:
- How to use a home dressmaking pattern
- How to lay, mark and pin the pattern to fabric and cut out.
- Sewing seams
- Sewing princess line seams
- Making darts
- Inserting a concealed zip
- Making pleats
- Attaching a bodice and skirt lining
- You will them hem, press and finish your dress ready to wear.

HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO I ALREADY NEED?
This workshop is aimed at those with intermediate level sewing skills – ideally you have taken our Learn to Sew course followed by one of our Beginner’s Dressmaking courses or have previously learned to sew and made at least one garment with a zip before.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You will be given a pattern to use; you bring your own fabric. If your fabric is 115cm wide fabric bring 2m.30cm. If your fabric is 150cm wide fabric bring 2m.10cm. You will need 80cm of fabric to line the bodice also a 55cm [22inch] concealed zip otherwise known as an invisible zip. We will send you more fabric details and a list of suppliers when you book.
