FASHION DRAWING & ILLUSTRATION
Intermediate Technical Drawing for Fashion
WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
For those wanting to produce technical drawings for their fashion designs to put into production. This would be especially helpful for a designer looking to approach a pattern cutter, sample maker or garment manufacturer for production of their garments. This class can also help you get your design ideas on paper if you are not adept at fashion sketching.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will learn the basics of producing technical drawings otherwise known as “flat drawings” or “specification drawings” as used within the fashion industry.
- Creating body templates
- Seam and construction lines
- Necklines and Collars
- Button wraps, single breasted and double breasted
- Sleeves and cuffs
- Skirts and skirt details
- Frills, folds and drape
- Trousers and trouser details
HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO I ALREADY NEED?
Ideally you would have completed out Beginner Drawing class and a Beginner Design class, or have previous knowledge of designing for fashion.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
All materials are provided but it’s good to have your own to practice. This would include a range of pencils, fine liner pens and an A4 Layout pad.
WHAT CLASS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND AFTER THIS ONE?
If you wanted to produce computer generated designs and technical drawings, you could take our Using Adobe Illustrator for Fashion Design – Beginners Stage 1 class and our Using Adobe Illustrator for Fashion Design – Beginners Stage 2 – The Tech Pack class.
